San Diego has a lot of replacement window companies, both big and small. This is a good thing in one sense because there are many choices, but researching all of the local San Diego replacement window companies can get overwhelming. Reviews can be mixed, with some customers claiming a company is the best and other saying that the same company is the worst they’ve ever dealt with.
There are also general home improvement companies, and some of the local big box stores can also install replacement windows in your home, but in this article, I’m going to focus only on dedicated San Diego replacement window companies, since I believe they provide an extra level of expertise. They also typically have access to a better selection of windows than general contractors or home improvement companies.
In the interest of transparency, I am the owner of BM Windows in San Diego, but I will do my best in this article to base my conclusions as to which replacement window companies are the best on hard data and industry awards, rather than my personal opinion.
Online Reviews of San Diego Replacement Window Companies
Coughlin Windows and Doors in Escondido is the most highly rated replacement window company on Yelp, followed very closely by BM Windows in San Diego, JWG Windows & Doors in Poway, and Pelican Replacement Windows in Vista. All have an average rating of 5 stars, based on more than 50 customer reviews.
As far as Google reviews go, there simply weren’t enough reviews for any of the local companies to make any sort of judgement on who would be considered the best San Diego replacement window company. Only Renewal by Anderson of San Diego, American Vision Windows, Picture Perfect Windows & Doors, and BM Windows had more than 10 reviews on Google as of this writing.
Recognized Industry Leaders in San Diego
A while ago, Door & Window Market Magazine, a window industry publication, released their list of Top Dealers. This was a national list, but two replacement window companies in San Diego made the list. Those two were Newman Replacement Windows and BM Windows. American Vision Windows and Win-Dor, which have multiple locations throughout Southern California, including in San Diego, made the Top Dealers list as well. This list was largely based on 2017 revenue numbers, and while revenue isn’t the only indicator of a great company, it does point to a company that is servicing a large number of customers.
Window & Door Magazine, another respected industry publication, recognizes top national dealers with their Dealer of the Year list. Recent San Diego winners include US Window & Door (2016) and BM Windows (2015). Both companies were named to the Dealer of the Year list for Excellence in Customer Service.
Nothing Beats a Personal Recommendation
Hopefully the information above can help you narrow down your search for the best replacement window company in your area, but if you still need more information, it’s always great to get a recommendation from someone you know and trust. Ask local friends and neighbors who they would recommend. Or if you see a house with great-looking windows, be bold and knock on their door and ask about them and their experience with the company that installed them. People are often more forthcoming than you might expect when asked for their opinion.
