Alside was founded by Jerome Kaufman and his brother Manual in 1947. Focusing mainly on distributing aluminum siding for home improvements, the company went public and was listed on the NYSE in 1961. The early 1970s saw Alside introduce aluminum windows and storm doors to the market, and in 1980 they launched their first line of vinyl replacement windows. Today, Alside has a diverse product lineup of both vinyl and steel siding, vinyl replacement windows, sliding patio doors, vinyl railings, gutters and downspouts. Alside is currently a division of Associate Materials Incorporated, which owns several other exterior building materials manufacturers.
Alside has been recognized with awards for Excellence in Energy Efficiency by ENERGY STAR for 2013, 2014, and 2015. Most recently, the Alside window products Sheffield and UltraMaxx, when combined with qualifying ClimaTech TK2 insulated glass, were awarded the ENERGY STAR Most Efficient 2015 prize for meeting the stringent ENERGY STAR rating criteria. These criteria include a highly-efficient U-Factor and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient performance in all four of the major U.S. climate zones.
