4 Quick DIY Home Improvement Ideas for the Summer in San Diego

This summer you may have a bit of extra time on your hands. You may also want to just update the interior or exterior of your San Diego home. Summer is the perfect time to make some simple improvements to your home. Look around your home this summer and see where you can make some improvements, then consider the following 4 quick home improvement ideas that you can complete this season.

Paint the Walls

One of the most inexpensive DIY projects that you can complete involves painting your walls. You would be amazed at how a simple coat of paint can completely change the look of a room. Different colors can change the atmosphere and mood people perceive in a room. If you are hoping to achieve specific energy or feeling, do some research to determine which colors correlate with your desired outcome. One of the nice things about painting is that it doesn’t take a lot of time or effort. Just make sure that you properly prepare each room before you begin, or you will have a huge mess to clean up later.

Change out Your Fixtures

Old fixtures can make a room look dated. You can start with the doors and then move onto the cabinets. If you are feeling particularly adventurous, change out your plumbing fixtures as well. Despite that fact that many fixtures tend to be cheap, changing them out can have a huge aesthetic impact on your home. Bathroom or kitchen fixtures are an easy way to achieve a modern look in your home.

Replace the Trim

Many homeowners overlook the trim when it comes time to make some improvements to their home. It’s a shame, as replacing it can completely change the look of the room. Fortunately, you don’t have to have a lot of special know how in order to remove the old trim and put up new pieces. Many homeowners can replace all of the trim in their home in as little as a couple of days. If your trash collector won’t take large pieces of trim, you may want to consider getting a dumpster rental. Having a dumpster onsite will allow you to easily dispose of discarded items from your DIY projects.

Add Closet Organizers

Many of us have closets that are overflowing with stuff. One way to make things a little more accessible is to add closet organizers to your home. They will allow you to organize your items, and feel as if you have more space. Even if you have small closets, you can still find a closet organizer to meet your needs. If you’ve never installed a closet organizer before, start with a small closet and then work your way up to a larger closet. If you have a little extra time to spend on your closet, consider custom building one or hiring someone to do the job for you. A custom closet with built-in features can be an easy and inexpensive way to also add some value to your home overall.

In conclusion, there are all sorts of DIY projects that you can complete his summer. The four projects mentioned above are easy to complete, and they won’t take a lot of your time. The effort and costs of these projects are more than worth it, as they can have a dramatic impact on your home.
