How to Throw an Amazing Housewarming Party in Your New San Diego Home

Congratulations on purchasing your new home in San Diego! As one of the most popular and progressive cities in the state of California, you’re sure to love your new digs and surroundings. A great way to get familiar with your neighbors and celebrate this amazing milestone is by hosting a housewarming party. There’s a bit of work involved, but it’s well worth it. With these tips listed below, you’re sure to wow your guests easily.

Choose a Theme

Though you could just throw a general housewarming party, themes make them even more special. Decide on a theme for the occasion. A popular option is called Stock the Bar. You serve delicious cocktails, finger foods (which are very affordable), and some sweet treats. You can make it easy on yourself and order delicious French desserts from Bonpastry. Your guests would then be advised to bring things like wine, glasses, and other items you’d need to stock a bar.

Come Up With Cool Game Ideas

You’ve got to keep your guests entertained so why not have some games? A great way to break the ice and learn more about San Diego would be to have a trivia game. You could come up with questions and answers on facts about the area. Be sure to have some prizes for the winner. It doesn’t have to be expensive. A $5 gift card to download music or grab a cup of coffee will make someone’s day.

Create a Registry

You don’t want to end up with a bunch of things for your house that don’t match your decor. You also don’t want to get a bunch of duplicate items. So, create a registry. Try to choose a popular store that easiest for everyone to get to. When creating your housewarming registry, be sure to put things on the list of various prices. You don’t know everyone’s budget, so asking for a bunch of expensive items is a bit rude.

Email Invitations

There’s no need to spend a lot of time or money at your housewarming party. Simply emailing invites is enough – at least for your friends and family. It’s free, convenient, and simple to do. For your neighbors, however, it may be best to use paper invitations so you can knock on doors, introduce yourself, and invite them to your housewarming.

Keep Food Simple

You don’t want the pressure of providing a full course meal for your guests, so keep the menu for your housewarming simple. Stick to things like finger foods, cold cuts, fresh fruit, or veggie platters. If you have the means and want to step things up a notch, you can also have it catered by a San Diego catering company or restaurant. There’s no shortage of cuisine in San Diego either. You can find everything from tacos to vegan eats.

Rent Furniture

After just moving into your San Diego home you may not have furniture ready for your guests to get comfortable on. Rather than trying to buy a complete living room or dining set before the event, it may be better to rent them for the day. Daily rates are affordable and these rental companies have an array of items for you to choose from. Whether you need a flatscreen or a sofa, you can have it shipped to your new place and set up before the housewarming.

Don’t Forget Music

Music helps to set the tone of your housewarming party and is a nice source of entertainment for your guests. You don’t need to hire a San Diego DJ, however, you can simply download some songs to your smartphone and connect it to wireless speakers for better sound quality.

Tidy Up

The last thing on the agenda for your housewarming party is to tidy up. Make sure that you’ve thoroughly cleaned common areas like the living room, dining room, and bathroom. You should also clean any rooms that you plan on showing everyone when you give the grand tour.

Your new San Diego home should be viewed and celebrated by those closest to you. A great way to learn more about the city and get to know your neighbors is to have a housewarming party. As long as you follow the advice above, your event is sure to be a success.
