Can a San Diego House Painter Help Me Choose Paint Colors?

Can a San Diego House Painter Help Me Choose Paint Colors?

So, you’ve decided it’s time to have your San Diego house painted. Now the real decision making begins. Do you do it yourself or hire a professional San Diego house painter? What type of paint should you use? What type of sheen do you want? And probably most importantly, what color(s) do you want your house painted?

On the surface, color choice doesn’t seem like it should be that difficult, but when you go to the home improvement store or paint store and see literally thousands of colors from which to choose, it can get overwhelming. Even if you just want your walls painted white, there are many, many shades of white, and believe me when I say the one you choose can make a huge difference in the look and feel of your room. Some whites are cool whites, while others are warm whites. Some have hints of color, which you may or may not want on your walls.

Paint chips can be deceiving. You may think you have found the perfect shade, but once it’s on the walls, it can look totally different than that small chip. You can purchase samples of a few of the different shades you are considering and paint a section of your wall, but even then, you won’t get an accurate representation of what it will look like when the entire room is painted.

What’s a homeowner to do?

One option is to hire a San Diego painting company that also does color consultations. Not all painting companies offer this service, but if they do, you should definitely consider this option. Typically, a color consultant at a painting company is also a professional house painter. They know about color theory and interior design, but they are also experienced painters.

Professional painters who have been painting houses for a while have pretty much seen it all. They know what colors look great on the exterior of homes, and which ones do well in interiors. They can tell you what shades to use to get the look you’re going for and which ones to stay away from. If you want to use multiple colors, they can help you choose which ones will complement each other. If you’re painting your house to put it on the market, they can give you great advice on which colors will appeal to the most buyers and help your home sell faster and for top dollar.

Typically, a painting company will charge a fee for color consultation. Don’t let that stop you from using this service, because choosing the right color(s) is one of the most important home improvement decisions you can make. Choosing the wrong colors means you’re either painting everything again or living in disappointment with a color that is just not what you wanted. Spend a little extra on an in-depth color consultation from a San Diego painting company and get the best result possible.
