6 Tips to Beautify Your Rental Property in San Diego

6 Tips to Beautify Your Rental Property in San Diego

If you’re having trouble renting your apartment, you might want to think about freshening it up. Apartments that have a good location in San Diego only need a cozy and chic appearance to be absolutely desirable. Here are some ideas in which you can invest to make your apartment rent on its own, without you having to do much.

Choose the Right Wallpaper

When in doubt, you can always go with white. But, if you really wish to make your apartment more rentable, you need to give it a more interesting wall feature. Just one accent wall colored in a different color can completely change the look of any room. Pick a color you’d love seeing every day–monochromatic solutions are a good idea, and will help your rental stand out from other apartments in San Diego.

Mind the Décor

Even though it might seem trivial, décor elements are what catch the eye and give the ultimate impression of an apartment. If you choose to stage your apartment (or if you rent it out as a furnished apartment) well-chosen décor elements will go a long way toward making it more unique and creative. Putting up pieces of art or handmade décor will create a great first impression. You can also make a room feel more cozy and comfortable with scented and relaxing pillar candles. Every little detail counts, so you should put more effort into detailing and arranging everything just right.

Find Perfect Focal Points

Focal points are important for giving the room a meaningful impression. If the room has adequately chosen focal points, then you are doing a good job. The best focal points are oriented towards a source of light, be it sunlight or an artificial light source. If you already have a dimly-lit room, then add lamps to improve the brightness of that area. You can easily change the focal points this way and draw attention to your most beautiful furniture pieces or architectural features.

Let the Light In

Whether you are renting your apartment to students or working adults, they will want a place rich in light. If your apartment is not on the bright side, you can arrange your furniture so that you get the most sunlight. For example, if you have an office, make sure that this room is the one that has most daylight, especially during working hours. More dimly-lit rooms should be left for bedrooms and living rooms, while a dining room should have more light. A great way to ensure more quality light is by investing in daylight bulbs that simulate the light waves which come from the sun and help you see almost as well as if you were outdoors.

Leave Free Space

Don’t clutter the apartment space with too much stuff. For people who come to live in your apartment, it’s good to have an open space for whatever they might want to place there. Additionally, more free space gives the room a spacious vibe, and makes it look bigger than it is. Cluttering the space with additional tables, chairs, shelves or showcases can only make the room less functional.

Flooring Ideas

Flooring is an essential part of room decorating, so you need to invest in making your floors better. If the flooring is not of fine quality, there is a chance that it might ward off some potential tenants. If you choose wooden flooring, think about installing it in a Herringbone and Chevron pattern, as it will add interest and help your apartment stand out. If you are a fan of the more traditional design, then a regular 90-degree angle is the best choice to create a more structured look.

And there you have it, six simple ideas on how you can make major improvements by investing very little money and energy. Make your home a place that anyone in San Diego would love to live in, but more importantly, be a good host and give it a “feels-like-home” sensation.
